Well, our due date wasn’t until January 2. But last week we found out the girl was breech, so we came in Wednesday morning for an ultrasound and to schedule the caesarean. Would it be Dec. 27th? 29th?
Nope. When the nurse practitioner says, in an offhand way after the ultrasound, “Have you eaten anything today?” it isn’t because they wonder if you’re hungry. They sent us upstairs, scheduled the C for midafternoon, and at about 4:40 the girl came screaming into the world, nestled comfortably between Hanukkah and Christmas. Jen did remarkably well, was conscious the whole time, and is already showing signs of a successful recovery.
Zelda Pearl, a dime under six pounds of hairy pink cuteness. I’ll write more about this, no doubt, but for now I’ll close with a pic.
